Delores B. Shearin-Lyle
District Manager, Greater South Carolina District
Delores B. Shearin-Lyle was assigned to the position of District Manager of the Greater South Carolina District in August 25, 2012. She was formerly Postmaster of Washington, DC.
As District Manager, Shearin-Lyle has responsibility for mail processing, delivery and retail operations for 317 facilities in a 24,475 square mile area that includes 35 of South Carolina's 46 counties.
The 4,924 employees of the Greater South Carolina District deliver more than 8.61 million pieces of mail each day to 1.91 million delivery points. The District has 3.5 million customers, who receive annual delivery of 1.1 billion pieces of mail processed in four processing and distribution facilities. The Greater South Carolina District delivers 4 million pieces of mail per day, and 1.2 billion pieces of mail per year. She oversees an operation that generated over $749 million in yearly revenue with total operating expenses of $544 million.
Shearin-Lyle began her career as a clerk in Northern Virginia. In her 26-year career, she has held positions involving operations, customer service and logistics which give her valuable experience in multiple aspects of the Postal Service. Two of her most recent assignments were Manager of In-Plant Support for the Capitol Metro Area and Plant Manager of the Norfolk, VA Processing and Distribution Center. She also served as Manager of In-Plant support in Richmond, VA.
Her career experience also includes positions as Manager of In-Plant Support in Northern Virginia; Operations Support Specialist for the Mid-Atlantic Area Office; Postmaster of Culpepper, Virginia; Mitigation and Infrastructure Specialist (Emergency Preparedness); Executive Green Belt and a Certified Emergency Manager.
Shearin-Lyle is a graduate of the Strayer University with a B.S. in Data Processing Management. She also holds a M.S. in Management and Leadership from National Louis University (Cum Laude).
